Crafting an Autumn Leaf Mason Jar Candle Holder

Create this unique Autumn Leaf Mason Jar Candle Holder at home with your own two hands and make sure they become part of your nighttime ritual.

Candles are inexpensive; there’s no need to wait for an occasion or company to light one. Add a touch of magic to each evening! As far as house décor goes, mason jars are now trending. You may use them in a myriad of ways as a decoration, and I’ll even show you a simple fall activity that your children can do.

Less than $5 was spent on this Mason Jar decoupage project. Mod Podge is a staple in my craft supply, and I can usually get mason jars at my neighbourhood $1 Tree for only $1 each. You may also use actual leaves from the fall, but these are fake.

Because the decoupage substance may easily seep through the fabric leaves, I prefer to use fake leaves. Also from the dollar shop, I got the bundle of artificial leaves.

Those familiar with decoupage techniques will have little trouble completing this task. This project may be time-consuming, but the finished product will be lovely fall house décor.

Steps to Make Your Autumn Leaf Mason Jar Candle Holder:

  • Prepare Your Leaves:
If you’re using faux leaves, they’re usually ready to go. Real leaves should be pressed and dried beforehand.
  • Apply Mod Podge:
Start by applying a thin layer of Mod Podge to a section of the mason jar.
  • Add the Leaves:
Place your leaves onto the adhesive-coated section, pressing firmly to ensure they stick.
  • Seal with More Mod Podge:
Once all leaves are in place, apply another layer of Mod Podge over them to seal and protect.
  • Let Dry:
Allow the jars to dry completely. This may take a few hours.
  • Place the Candle Inside:
Insert a tealight or small candle, and watch your jar glow with a warm, autumnal hue.

Why make it a nightly tradition?

There’s something enchanting about candlelight, especially as the days grow shorter in autumn. Lighting these autumn-themed jars can bring a cozy ambiance to your home, making each evening feel like a special event. Candles are inexpensive, so you don’t need to save them for special occasions—use them to enjoy a peaceful, nightly ritual.

Tips:

  • Personalize It: Try different colored leaves or even metallic accents for a festive twist.
  • Play with Textures: Add in a layer of burlap or twine around the neck of the jar to enhance the rustic feel.
  • Involve Kids: This project is easy enough that children can help with Mod Podge application and leaf placement, making it a fun family activity.

With just a few materials, this project not only makes for beautiful, seasonal decor but also helps create lasting family memories.
